Different Types Of Anxiety and Stress

Posted by Dave on February 17, 2010

At the time I am writing this post I am currently watching the 2010 Winter Olympics. As I am watching I am thinking about the anxiety and stress these athletes must be going through.

Tonight I am watching the mens half-pipe competition and these athletes are under immense stress to win a medal. I know that this may be a different kind of stress than someone who is trying to get a job to make ends meet but who is really under more stress? What about people who are going to purchase a new home?

These are all different kinds of stresses and they all have different effects on us. These athletes feel more of an adrenaline rush type of stress like, “lets do this, Yeh!”. They also have a lot of support and a great cheering section. When you are buying a house the stress is just will the loan go through? Worst case you stay where you are at. No one is cheering you on.

So my point here is that we all have stress and anxiety, but it is all about how we deal with it that counts.

Beauty Can Reduce Stress

Posted by Dave on February 12, 2010

As I arrived at my job this morning I thought to myself that I need to share this beautiful scenery all around me.

Once in a while when the temperature and humidity is just right the trees frost up and just look absolutely beautiful…

I hope you enjoyed that little video. I actually took it from the back parking lot at the Toyota dealership I work for.

I just want everyone to know that all you have to do is open your eyes and look around to find beauty no matter where you are at…

You are Awesome!!!

How To Fight Off An Anxiety Attack

Posted by Dave on November 5, 2009

First and foremost, you MUST realize this Anxiety attack for what it is when you are having one. Understand that you ARE HAVING AN ANXIETY ATTACK, and that it won’t last forever. Most attacks only last anywhere from a few minutes up to no longer than a half an hour. Give or take.

Even though it may be difficult, try to lay down and RELAX. If you can’t lay down, sit still, close your eyes and focus on slow, even, breathing. This will help ease the symptoms somewhat. Not completely mind you, but enough that you can make it through.

The REAL trick in battling Anxiety is to redirect your train of thought. Keep yourself as busy as you can and let the thoughts of fear of an oncoming attack melt away. They will. And the more you practice this reversal of thought, the better you will get at it and be able to manage your Anxiety attack better the next time you feel one coming on.

If anxiety becomes too much to manage on your own, you need to seek medical assistance quickly. Don’t feel stupid for having to call an emergency squad. That’s their job! These courageous folks get calls like this ALL THE TIME, so you shouldn’t feel the least bit of embarrassment or guilt in needing their aid.

What is a Anxiety Attack?

Posted by Dave on November 2, 2009

What are the symptoms of an anxiety attack?

* When you are struck with a anxiety attack you will feel it in your mind, body and soul. When I am feeling a anxiety attack coming on I start feel overwhelmed and out of control. You begin to feel scared. Then your mind becomes focused on this fear and no matter what you do you can’t overcome this fear.

* You may feel physical symptoms such as shaking, dizziness, chest pressure, sweating, shortness of breath and upset stomach.

* You may feel some emotional symptoms such as mood swings, uncontrollable crying, fear, confusion and anger.

* If you are in a public place such as a crowded Mall you may find yourself rushing to the exit and not knowing why. Your mind is telling you that you need to get out of there and you can’t resist.

* You feel excessive fear over a particular object or an event. Generalized anxiety disorder sufferers often worry about issues such as health, physical danger, losing their job, and financial problems.

While there is nothing really wrong with worrying about these things, If you are worrying about them 24/7 you may need some help to overcome anxiety so you can have family time without worry or fear.
