Plan Your Day To Reduce Anxiety and Stress

Posted by Dave on February 2, 2010

One of the best ways to reduce anxiety and stress is to have a schedule or plan set up for your day. What do you need to do? When does it need to be done by? Did you schedule time for yourself? Did you set your daily plans realistically?

What do you need to do? – Think about all of the things that you want to get done today. Write them down and carry them with you so you can refer to them throughout the day.

When does it need to be done by? – When you have your list of goals (things to do) for the day, write down when each item needs to be done. Does the lawn need to be mowed by noon? Do you have a presentation for the boss that must be done by 1:30? It is very important to list when the goal must be completed as this will help you organize the order in which everything must be done.

Did you schedule time for yourself? – This is a very important item that should not be overlooked. It is very important to have 15-30 minutes scheduled just for yourself to be alone with no interruptions. What you do with this time is not important as long as the focus is on you and not anyone else. I use my time for self hypnosis and meditation.

Did you set your daily plans (Goals) realistically? – This is also a very important part of setting your daily goals or targets. Telling yourself that you are going to cure cancer is very unrealistic and will only set you up for failure in achieving your goals. Keep your goals very realistic. For example; I am going to clean my work station today. I am going to play blocks with my child for 15 minutes.

If you really have problems organizing all of this into your day, there is an awesome FREE program that will help you stay focused and achieve your goals. There is even a reminder program that comes up on your computer that tells you to take a 15 minute break.

Think Happy Thoughts During a Panic Attack

Posted by Dave on January 14, 2010

Here is a question that came to me recently:

What are some empowering thoughts you can run through your mind, or tell to yourself while having a panic attack to diminish the feeling of despair that comes after the rush passes?

Before I answer this question, we need to keep in mind that panic attacks are different for everyone. We all have different feelings, reasoning’s, chemical make up and trauma’s.

What you really need to do is to start journaling when a panic attack occurs. When you start writing down what was happening at the time of the attack, where you were, how you were feeling, etc… you will start to develop a clear picture about your panic attacks.

Now you can go back and start changing the thoughts you had at the time to a more positive thought. Take a look at what the worst case scenario of that feeling would be. What are the chances of that worse case scenario even happening.

I also use meditation/self Hypnosis on a daily basis and this helps me to have more positive thoughts in my mind before the attack even happens. Since I have changed my thoughts to more positive thoughts my panic attacks are happening less frequently and are less severe than they have ever been.

I try very hard to use happy thoughts during a Panic attack and sometimes I think about people I love and that often takes the edge off of the attack.

Stress Relief Tip – Take Time For Yourself

Posted by Dave on December 8, 2009

When was the last time that you took just 1 hour for yourself? There should only be 2 answers for this question, Yesterday is one answer and Today is the other answer.

No matte rhow busy I am every single day, I make sure that I take 1 hour for myself. This is time that I use to do some meditation or self hypnosis, I might just wander aimlessly through a store. Sometimes I make a retreat to the master bedroom and just turn on some cartoons or music to help the day melt away.

My schedule is so tight right now that I have to check it to see if I can go to the bathroom. lol

Right before I began righting this post, I sat down in my swivel rocker and did some deep breathing exercises. That really helps clear the head, gives me a energy boost and gets my creative juices flowing.

Remember that you need to take one hour evrey single day for yourself. The only rule is that it has to be for yourself. Doing chores does not count and any type of work does not count.

I spend my hour divided between meditation, self hypnosis and sometimes playing with my Grandson.

Take time for yourself and you will feel the difference it makes in your life.
