A Brisk Walk To Reduce Anxiety and Stress

Posted by Dave on February 21, 2010

If you are feeling the onset of an anxiety attack or just feel that pressure in your gut from undue stress, you might want to consider going on brisk walk. Take about a 6 block walk at a good brisk pace will help you to increase your blood flow and also help you to increase oxygen into your body.

When you go on a fast paced walk, be sure to take some deep breaths and try to think about positive things. Think about how you want the outcome of your stressful situation to turn out. Do you want something to change? Were you being unreasonable? Is there really anything that you can do personally to change the outcome of the situation. Remember you can only control yourself, not others.

Another benefit to taking a brisk walk to reduce stress and anxiety is that it removes you from the situation. Whatever the situation causing your anxiety is, if you remove yourself form it you will be able to deal with it a lot easier.

There are also healthy heart and body benefits as well when you go on a brisk walk. Besides the mental aspect of it the physical part also works wonders for helping you to get back on track to a healthier life.

Take a good brisk walk today and start living!

You are Awesome!!!

A Breathing Exercise To Overcome Anxiety

Posted by Dave on October 31, 2009

I did a video showing you a breathing exercise that I use on my job to help get me through a stressful situation and to overcome the onset of an anxiety attack.

Just to recap, find a place where you can be alone for 2 minutes, take a deep breath in for the count five, hold it for the count of two and exhale for the count of seven.

You will feel refreshed and also have a good supply of oxygen to your brain. This helps to reduce stress and overcome anxiety.

Anxiety Relief – Things to do during Panic Attacks

Posted by Dave on October 15, 2009

When people are in the throws of panic attacks, they really cannot deal with the situation at hand. Here are some anxiety relief ideas to follow when you are experiencing one of these attacks:

It matters little whether you feel bewildered, unsteady, unreal or frightened. These feelings are merely an exaggeration of a normal body reacting to stress. Try to be as comfortable as you can without escaping. Try taking in a deep breath for the count of 5, hold it for 2 seconds and let it out for the count of 7. This deep breathing technique will replenish the oxygen in your lungs and brain and help you relax.

If you happen to be on a street, lean against a store wall or a post and do the breathing technique. If you happen to be at a store’s cosmetic department, try finding a quiet counter or corner and take some very deep breaths and even close your eyes. I have also found that sometimes a stall in the restroom can be a quick escape.

What you do not want to do is jump into your car and drive home in fear from the panic attack.

Keep Moving Forward!
