Journaling To Relieve Stress

Posted by Dave on January 25, 2010

Believe it or not one of the best ways to relieve anxiety and stress is by Journaling. What is Journaling? Simply put it is just the act of writing down everything that happens to you during the day and any and all thoughts that you had good and bad.

When you write in a journal the things that you write down impact you in different ways. The fact that you are writing it makes it real and when you read it you use a different part of your brain so there is a good chance it will have a greater impact on you.

I would recommend writing the negative things that you wrote down a second time on a seperate piece of paper and read them to yourself. Then I would read them out loud and record it at the same time. Then listen to the recording.

Now that you have all of those negatives on the table, rip up the paper and throw it away or shred it. Give yourself permission to accept those negatives and let them go. Delete the recording.

Now take the positive things for the day and do the same thing except hang on to your copies. Do not destroy them. At the end of the week take 15 minutes for yourself to review all of those positives. You will soon find out that you really are a great person and don’t need to bother yourself with the negative things that are all around us every day.

You will find that after a few weeks there will be very few negatives from when you started and a lot more positives.

Your stress level will thank you for it and so will your friends and family.

You are Awesome!!!

Can Yard Work Relieve Stress and Anxiety?

Can Yard Work Relieve Stress and Anxiety?

You bet it can. Doing any type of physical activity can help you to reduce stress and anxiety. This works in a couple of ways:

    1) It takes your mind off of whatever the thing is that is keeping your mind spinning with negative worrying thoughts.
    2) The physical activity helps you to replenish your oxygen supply with some good fresh oxygen for your brain. This is also why deep breathing helps to relax you. Nothing better than an extra boost of oxygen to refresh your brain.

Now if what you are stressing about is the yard work, than just doing it and getting it done will also help you. Just think, The yard work is done now. What am I worrying about then?

Take some deep breaths and relax :-)
