Reduce Anxiety And Stress By Visting The Country

Posted by Dave on February 28, 2010

I went out of town last week and I have to say that there is nothing more relaxing than sitting in front of a nice roaring wood fireplace and looking out at the beautiful scenery. Just when you think it could not get any better a Deer (Doe) comes walking by the front window with her three babies (Fawns).

I tried to get my Flip video but when I moved in the house I spooked her and she went back into the woods.

As much as I hated not having an Internet connection up in the woods it sure was relaxing. I have been very busy yesterday and today catching up on my businesses.

My dream is to retire up there at my Dad’s house. It is so absolutely beautiful up there. Of course I would have to get a wireless card for AT&T to be able to access the Internet up there or rely on dial-up :-(

My point I am trying to make is that sometimes just a change of location can help you to reduce your stress and anxiety. Even if it is only for a week or two.

Another Tip To Reduce Anxiety and Stress

Posted by Dave on February 24, 2010

I had a meeting today with a very nice woman who has taken a huge burden off of my hands. I never thought that I would need help but I really do. I went and hired a bookkeeper. I found that I just don’t have time to track expenses and income any longer. This nice lady is a member of my BNI group and I met with her to discuss the fact that I have no idea what I have coming in for income and I have no idea what I am spending on expenses. It makes it very difficult to run a business or even track your home expenses if you don’t do it regularly on paper.

I felt a huge stress relief rush leave my body after meeting up with her and agreeing to put my finances in her hands. I can now login to my account and see exactly what I have, what I spend, what bills are coming up and where my money going to and coming from. This is a very powerful tool.

Think about what you don’t like to do but needs to be done. Do you know someone who can help you? If you don’t have the money to hire someone, how about bartering services. Maybe there is something that you can do for them.

Finding someone to do the jobs that you hate is a great way to reduce stress and anxiety.

Your body and mind will love you for it…

A Brisk Walk To Reduce Anxiety and Stress

Posted by Dave on February 21, 2010

If you are feeling the onset of an anxiety attack or just feel that pressure in your gut from undue stress, you might want to consider going on brisk walk. Take about a 6 block walk at a good brisk pace will help you to increase your blood flow and also help you to increase oxygen into your body.

When you go on a fast paced walk, be sure to take some deep breaths and try to think about positive things. Think about how you want the outcome of your stressful situation to turn out. Do you want something to change? Were you being unreasonable? Is there really anything that you can do personally to change the outcome of the situation. Remember you can only control yourself, not others.

Another benefit to taking a brisk walk to reduce stress and anxiety is that it removes you from the situation. Whatever the situation causing your anxiety is, if you remove yourself form it you will be able to deal with it a lot easier.

There are also healthy heart and body benefits as well when you go on a brisk walk. Besides the mental aspect of it the physical part also works wonders for helping you to get back on track to a healthier life.

Take a good brisk walk today and start living!

Different Types Of Anxiety and Stress

Posted by Dave on February 17, 2010

At the time I am writing this post I am currently watching the 2010 Winter Olympics. As I am watching I am thinking about the anxiety and stress these athletes must be going through.

Tonight I am watching the mens half-pipe competition and these athletes are under immense stress to win a medal. I know that this may be a different kind of stress than someone who is trying to get a job to make ends meet but who is really under more stress? What about people who are going to purchase a new home?

These are all different kinds of stresses and they all have different effects on us. These athletes feel more of an adrenaline rush type of stress like, “lets do this, Yeh!”. They also have a lot of support and a great cheering section. When you are buying a house the stress is just will the loan go through? Worst case you stay where you are at. No one is cheering you on.

So my point here is that we all have stress and anxiety, but it is all about how we deal with it that counts.

High Stress Levels Lately

Posted by Dave on February 16, 2010

Yep, that’s right. I have had some pretty high stress and anxiety levels the last few weeks. For those of you who know me you know that I work for Toyota as my full time job.

To help get all of these recalls done and to help with customer satisfaction and to keep the trust value, we have been working some long hours. We have extended our hours and have been open on Sundays just trying to keep up with the demand to get these recalls done.

All of us Technicians in the shop have been feeling the stress this week after literally getting pounded with recall after recall and the need to get them done ASAP.

Toyota has been helping out by providing meals and coming in and praising us for the good job but you can tell that we are all feeling the anxiety and stress of getting all of these cars done. We have also been getting more recalls issued and changes to previous recalls so it has been a vicious cycle.

How are we dealing with the stress? By talking about it. We all also understand that if someone has an attitude that they just need to take the rest of the day off or go for an hour break or whatever it takes to get through this trying time. We spend our breaks telling jokes and just the usual BS about stories of some of the cars we have had to do.

We get into some of these cars and find the floor-mats 3 deep and all bunched up by the accelerator and we wonder why the recall and don’t people understand that you can’t atck up three floor mats?

Anyway, I just wanted to vent a little bit about what has been going on in my life the last few weeks.

Thanks for listening.

Are You Happy?

Posted by Dave on February 8, 2010

Believe it or not how can you expect to not have stress, anxiety or low self esteem if you are feeling unhappy. You really need to get to the core of your unhappiness if you are to start attracting the things you really want in life.

Maybe what you want is a family that is close or a close friend you can count on. Wealth itself is not a cure for all of your problems. Believe it or not the way you feel is just the way you feel. Nothing can change the way you feel about yourself except you.

You can have all of the money in the world, but if you don’t feel worthy your self esteem will still be low. Having more money can actually cause more stress and anxiety in your life than you have right now. People asking for help, family members wanting money, how to invest it, what to do with your time?

I guess what I am trying to say is that you don’t need any material things to make you happy, you just need to take a good look at yourself and see what is making you unhappy and change it.

Your Surroundings Can Effect Your Stress, Anxiety and Self Esteem

Posted by Dave on February 7, 2010

Believe it or not everything around effects the way you feel. Your surroundings play a vital role in your Anxiety, stress and self esteem.

Something as simple as having your house cleaned and a good calming candle scent burning can help you tremendously in reducing stress and anxiety. If you have cluttered up stacks of mail or to do lists it can cause you to feel disorganized and bring your anxiety level up as you are constantly reminded that you need to take care of it, Having laundry lying around in piles waiting to be folded and put away are constant reminders to you that you need to get it done so that causes you anxiety and stress.

Maybe you are to busy to get these small items done, but how about hiring someone once a week to come in and get you organized. That is what I am doing this week is having a office assistant come over and we are going to discuss her getting my office and filing organized as well as train me on using Quickbooks to keep track of my money. The small cost she charges is well worth it so I don’t have to have these things in the back of my mind distracting me from my business duties.

How can you have anything but low self esteem with a disorganized house, clutter everywhere, unpleasant odors and being ashamed to have guests come over? You really must get your home and yourself organized if you are to build up your self esteem. Get some nice clothes. You dont need to spend a lot, just go to a second hand clothing store like Goodwill and shop around. Don’t forget about Garage sales. I have found some fantastic deals on very nice antique furniture at garage sales.

Well anyway I think that I have made my point here. You can change some simple things in your life to make a huge impact on your anxiety, stress and self esteem.

I happened to be going through my pictures and found this beautiful picture of our backyard right after the first snowfall of the year:

Reduce Stress By Changing The Atmosphere

Posted by Dave on February 5, 2010

If you find yourself in a stressful situation you can always make changes to control the level of the stress or anxiety that you are experiencing.

When I find myself feeling stressed sometimes I like to run out to the local coffee shop and have a cup of coffee, pull out my laptop and do what I need to do without any outside influences.

There is nothing better than a complete change of scenery to change your whole demeanor. A nice fire, calming music and new faces. I was having a bad situation at home that I just could not deal with at the time so I had to grab my laptop and get out for a couple hours so I could get some work done.

I really don’t know what the situation will be like when I get home but at least I got out and was able to accomplish what I needed to for myself.

Remember you can only take care of yourself. If you can keep yourself feeling good everything else will just naturally fall into place.

Business Stress and Anxiety

Posted by Dave on January 30, 2010

I have spent a lot of time talking about anxiety and stress on a personal level but today I am going to talk about the Business owner. Imagine for a minute what kind of stress a Business owner has.

A small business or entrepreneurial business would have anxiety and stress related to finding customers, stress of earning enough to pay the bills, How about the stress of not having time to spend with the family? AS Business owner also has to deal with the anxiety of solicitors, suppliers, not to mention accountants ad people etc… Who is going to take out the trash? Who is going to clean the office? Who makes the coffee? When you are an Entrepreneur, that just might be you.

A larger Business owner has a lot of similar anxiety and stress but also has the additional anxiety and stress relating to dealing with employees. Maybe someone needs to be disciplined or even fired. Just hiring someone can cause stress.

I myself am an Entrepreneur and one of the ways that I reduce my stress and anxiety as well as free up some time is by Outsourcing. It is cheaper for me to pay someone to write an article or press release than it is for me to spend 2-3 hours trying to get it done myself.

I am also going to be hiring a Virtual assistant to take some more of the edge off so I can just deal with what I love, Helping people.

There is an awesome place to go and get a free outsourcing CD that my good friend Jeff Mills put together for you. I save 10+ hours a week by just utilizing outsourcing for all of my writing, Except my blog…. That is still me.

Get your FREE Outsourcing CD Here!

Outsourcing can really help you reduce a lot of the anxiety and stress you experience as a Business owner.

Low Self Esteem Effects Stress and Anxiety

Posted by Dave on January 28, 2010

Believe it or not if you have very low self esteem you are more likely to be stressed. You are always going to feel like you are not worthy of anything better in your life. You may even believe that this life is as good as it gets.

I am here to tell you that things can always be better just as easily as things could always be worse. If you don’t believ that you are worthy of a better life, you will not have a better life. If you fell life is just getting worse and worse, guess what? Life will get worse.

Now lets imagine you always told your self positive things like life will be better. I will live in my dream home one day. I will be financially stable soon. The more you tell yourself these positive things the more you will attract them.

My point here is that it is just as easy to think about positive thoughts as it is negative thoughts so why not let your life change for the better?

Think positive thoughts…
