Reduce Anxiety And Stress By Visting The Country

Posted by Dave on February 28, 2010

I went out of town last week and I have to say that there is nothing more relaxing than sitting in front of a nice roaring wood fireplace and looking out at the beautiful scenery. Just when you think it could not get any better a Deer (Doe) comes walking by the front window with her three babies (Fawns).

I tried to get my Flip video but when I moved in the house I spooked her and she went back into the woods.

As much as I hated not having an Internet connection up in the woods it sure was relaxing. I have been very busy yesterday and today catching up on my businesses.

My dream is to retire up there at my Dad’s house. It is so absolutely beautiful up there. Of course I would have to get a wireless card for AT&T to be able to access the Internet up there or rely on dial-up :-(

My point I am trying to make is that sometimes just a change of location can help you to reduce your stress and anxiety. Even if it is only for a week or two.

Another Tip To Reduce Anxiety and Stress

Posted by Dave on February 24, 2010

I had a meeting today with a very nice woman who has taken a huge burden off of my hands. I never thought that I would need help but I really do. I went and hired a bookkeeper. I found that I just don’t have time to track expenses and income any longer. This nice lady is a member of my BNI group and I met with her to discuss the fact that I have no idea what I have coming in for income and I have no idea what I am spending on expenses. It makes it very difficult to run a business or even track your home expenses if you don’t do it regularly on paper.

I felt a huge stress relief rush leave my body after meeting up with her and agreeing to put my finances in her hands. I can now login to my account and see exactly what I have, what I spend, what bills are coming up and where my money going to and coming from. This is a very powerful tool.

Think about what you don’t like to do but needs to be done. Do you know someone who can help you? If you don’t have the money to hire someone, how about bartering services. Maybe there is something that you can do for them.

Finding someone to do the jobs that you hate is a great way to reduce stress and anxiety.

Your body and mind will love you for it…

A Brisk Walk To Reduce Anxiety and Stress

Posted by Dave on February 21, 2010

If you are feeling the onset of an anxiety attack or just feel that pressure in your gut from undue stress, you might want to consider going on brisk walk. Take about a 6 block walk at a good brisk pace will help you to increase your blood flow and also help you to increase oxygen into your body.

When you go on a fast paced walk, be sure to take some deep breaths and try to think about positive things. Think about how you want the outcome of your stressful situation to turn out. Do you want something to change? Were you being unreasonable? Is there really anything that you can do personally to change the outcome of the situation. Remember you can only control yourself, not others.

Another benefit to taking a brisk walk to reduce stress and anxiety is that it removes you from the situation. Whatever the situation causing your anxiety is, if you remove yourself form it you will be able to deal with it a lot easier.

There are also healthy heart and body benefits as well when you go on a brisk walk. Besides the mental aspect of it the physical part also works wonders for helping you to get back on track to a healthier life.

Take a good brisk walk today and start living!

Different Types Of Anxiety and Stress

Posted by Dave on February 17, 2010

At the time I am writing this post I am currently watching the 2010 Winter Olympics. As I am watching I am thinking about the anxiety and stress these athletes must be going through.

Tonight I am watching the mens half-pipe competition and these athletes are under immense stress to win a medal. I know that this may be a different kind of stress than someone who is trying to get a job to make ends meet but who is really under more stress? What about people who are going to purchase a new home?

These are all different kinds of stresses and they all have different effects on us. These athletes feel more of an adrenaline rush type of stress like, “lets do this, Yeh!”. They also have a lot of support and a great cheering section. When you are buying a house the stress is just will the loan go through? Worst case you stay where you are at. No one is cheering you on.

So my point here is that we all have stress and anxiety, but it is all about how we deal with it that counts.

High Stress Levels Lately

Posted by Dave on February 16, 2010

Yep, that’s right. I have had some pretty high stress and anxiety levels the last few weeks. For those of you who know me you know that I work for Toyota as my full time job.

To help get all of these recalls done and to help with customer satisfaction and to keep the trust value, we have been working some long hours. We have extended our hours and have been open on Sundays just trying to keep up with the demand to get these recalls done.

All of us Technicians in the shop have been feeling the stress this week after literally getting pounded with recall after recall and the need to get them done ASAP.

Toyota has been helping out by providing meals and coming in and praising us for the good job but you can tell that we are all feeling the anxiety and stress of getting all of these cars done. We have also been getting more recalls issued and changes to previous recalls so it has been a vicious cycle.

How are we dealing with the stress? By talking about it. We all also understand that if someone has an attitude that they just need to take the rest of the day off or go for an hour break or whatever it takes to get through this trying time. We spend our breaks telling jokes and just the usual BS about stories of some of the cars we have had to do.

We get into some of these cars and find the floor-mats 3 deep and all bunched up by the accelerator and we wonder why the recall and don’t people understand that you can’t atck up three floor mats?

Anyway, I just wanted to vent a little bit about what has been going on in my life the last few weeks.

Thanks for listening.
